Vest that shocks heart back to life under scrutiny
NCT ID NCT05135403
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows over 5,000 people who are prescribed a wearable defibrillator vest to prevent sudden cardiac arrest. Researchers will analyze data from the device to see how often it successfully corrects dangerous heart rhythms and how often it delivers unnecessary shocks. The goal is to confirm the vest works well in everyday life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could confirm that the wearable defibrillator reliably treats dangerous heart rhythms, helping prevent sudden cardiac arrest in at-risk patients.
What could go wrong
This is an observational registry study, not a controlled trial, so results may be influenced by real-world variability. The device may still deliver inappropriate shocks or fail to convert some arrhythmias.
