Common painkiller may hold key to stopping colon cancer before it starts

NCT ID NCT02965703

Summary

This study is testing whether taking aspirin daily or in on-and-off cycles can help prevent colorectal cancer in people who have precancerous growths called adenomas. Researchers are comparing three groups: daily aspirin, intermittent aspirin, and placebo, to see which schedule best changes markers in the gut that are linked to cancer development. The trial involves 81 adults and measures changes in rectal tissue samples over 12 weeks.
