Stem cell injection aims to restore vision in dry AMD patients
NCT ID NCT03178149
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-stage study tests a stem cell therapy called ASP7317 for people with geographic atrophy, the advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration that causes central vision loss. The treatment involves injecting special cells under the retina to replace damaged ones. Participants will take immune-suppressing drugs for a short time to prevent rejection. The main goal is to check safety and tolerability in 42 older adults with moderate to severe vision loss.
