New drug aims to keep leukemia in remission after transplant
NCT ID NCT07040982
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-phase trial is testing the drug asciminib as a maintenance treatment for adults with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) who have already received a stem cell transplant or CAR T-cell therapy. The goal is to see if asciminib is safe and tolerable when given after these cellular therapies to help prevent the cancer from coming back. About 30 participants will be enrolled to evaluate side effects and the best dose.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
asciminib
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new maintenance option to help keep leukemia from returning after transplant or CAR T-cell therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a very early phase 1 trial with only 30 participants, so safety and effectiveness are not yet proven. The drug may cause side effects or fail to prevent relapse.
