New hope for millions of kids: easier treatment for a devastating parasitic disease
NCT ID NCT06698510
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study aims to see how well a new, child-friendly version of the drug praziquantel works to control schistosomiasis in preschool-aged children (2 to 5 years old) in parts of Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, and Uganda. About 18,500 children will receive the medicine through existing public health programs. The goal is to find the best way to deliver the drug to this age group, who are often missed in current treatment campaigns.
