Summary
This study looks at how well the right side of the heart works with the lungs in people who have high blood pressure in their lung arteries caused by schistosomiasis, a parasitic infection common in parts of Africa and South America. Researchers will use echocardiography to measure a key ratio called TAPSE/PASP, which reflects how efficiently the heart pumps blood against the increased pressure. The goal is to understand why some patients with this condition tend to live longer than those with other forms of pulmonary hypertension.
