Scents & suggestion: can smelling oils during hypnosis ease cancer care discomfort?
NCT ID NCT05714995
Summary
This study is testing whether a combination of aromatherapy (smelling essential oils) and self-hypnosis can help improve comfort for cancer patients during stressful medical procedures like blood draws or dressing changes. It involves 66 adults receiving cancer care who will learn self-hypnosis and be randomly assigned to also use aromatherapy or not. Researchers will measure changes in comfort and anxiety levels before and after these procedures to see if the combined approach helps more.
