First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether aromatherapy can prevent delirium (sudden confusion) in adults in the intensive care unit who are on breathing machines. 161 patients took part, and the approach used scented oils applied to the skin. The goal was to see if this simple, drug-free method could reduce episodes of delirium during their hospital stay.
