Stroke recovery boost: extra Arm-Hand therapy shows promise in new trial

NCT ID NCT06517251

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding one hour of arm-hand exercises daily (5 days a week for 4 weeks) to standard care helps stroke patients regain arm and hand function. 80 people who had a stroke will be randomly assigned to either the extra arm-hand therapy or a lower-body exercise program. Researchers will measure arm function, independence, and quality of life up to one year after the stroke, and also check if the extra therapy is cost-effective.
