First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study tests whether aripiprazole, a medication already used for other conditions, can reduce the urges and severity of hair-pulling (trichotillomania) and skin-picking (dermatillomania) in adults. About 100 participants will take either aripiprazole or a placebo for 6 weeks, with doses starting at 5 mg and increasing to 10 mg daily. The main goal is to see if symptoms improve compared to placebo.
