New drug trial aims to save lives from devastating lung failure

Summary
This study is testing whether adding an experimental drug called recombinant human plasma gelsolin (rhu-pGSN) to standard hospital care can help patients with severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) caused by infections like pneumonia. ARDS is a life-threatening condition where the lungs fill with fluid, making it very hard to breathe. The main goal is to see if the drug reduces deaths by day 28 and helps patients spend less time on breathing machines.
