Scientists test new Drug's reach into Hard-to-Treat brain tumors

NCT ID NCT02282917

Summary

This early study tested whether an experimental drug called AR-42 could reach two types of brain and nerve tumors and affect a specific protein linked to cancer growth. A small group of adults scheduled for tumor removal surgery took the drug for three weeks before their operation. Researchers then analyzed the removed tumors to see if the drug got inside them and changed their biology, which helps decide if larger treatment trials are worthwhile.
