First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether the drug APX-115 can prevent kidney injury caused by contrast dye used in heart procedures. About 230 adults with kidney disease will receive either the drug or a placebo before and after their procedure. The goal is to see if the drug reduces kidney damage and is safe.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a way to prevent kidney injury from contrast dye in people with reduced kidney function.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase 2 trial, so results may not confirm benefit. The drug could cause side effects or fail to outperform placebo.
