New combo radiation approach aims to control advanced lung cancer
NCT ID NCT07565987
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether giving high-precision radiation (SBRT) to the main tumor and nearby lymph nodes, along with standard chemotherapy, can better control stage III non-small cell lung cancer. The trial will enroll 20 adults whose tumors are less than 6 cm and who have not spread to other organs. Researchers will track how long the cancer stays under control and any side effects over two years.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) – high-precision radiation to the tumor and lymph nodes
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that combining SBRT with chemotherapy improves local control and survival for stage III lung cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 20 participants, so results may not apply broadly. There is also a risk of radiation-related side effects.
