Could a smartphone app replace hospital visits for Women's emergency aftercare?
NCT ID NCT06615843
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether using a health app for follow-up after a gynecological emergency is as good as or better than traditional in-person visits. About 200 women aged 18-60 with conditions like ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage will either use the app to log symptoms and get care instructions or attend standard clinic appointments. The goal is to see if the app improves patient satisfaction and reduces hospital time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
connected health app
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a more convenient and satisfying way to manage recovery from gynecological emergencies at home, reducing the need for hospital visits.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (200 participants) comparing app-based care to standard in-person follow-up. The app may not work for everyone, especially those uncomfortable with technology, and results may not apply to all patients.
