Early diabetes study tests natural hormone to boost insulin

NCT ID NCT02724566

Summary

This small, early-stage study tested whether a hormone called apelin can improve how the body uses insulin in people with type 2 diabetes. Nine volunteers with well-controlled diabetes received a continuous infusion of apelin or a placebo. The main goal was to see if apelin made the body more sensitive to insulin, which could inform the development of new future treatments.
