Breast cancer radiation showdown: 3D vs. internal implants
NCT ID NCT00802711
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looked at two ways to give radiation to the breast after a lumpectomy for early-stage breast cancer. One method uses a 3D computer to aim radiation from outside, while the other places tiny radioactive seeds inside the breast near the tumor. The goal was to see which approach works better at preventing cancer from coming back. Only 6 women took part before the study was stopped early.
