Scientists probe aortic wall strength to predict rupture risk

NCT ID NCT07422129

First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at the strength and flexibility of the aorta (the main artery) in people with aortic disease who are having heart surgery. Researchers want to find out if certain patient traits are linked to a weaker aortic wall, which could raise the risk of a tear or rupture. The goal is to better understand these risks, not to test a new treatment. About 250 adults having aortic surgery or a heart transplant will take part.
