Study probes fear in awake skin cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT03756792

Summary

This study aimed to understand patient anxiety during Mohs surgery, a common and effective outpatient procedure for skin cancer where patients are awake. It compared anxiety levels between first-time patients and those returning for another surgery. It also tested if reading a short story about a typical patient's experience could help reduce anxiety.
