Heart valve surgery infection fight: two drugs vs. one in major trial

NCT ID NCT07442357

Summary

This large trial in Denmark aims to find the best antibiotic strategy to prevent serious infections after a minimally invasive heart valve replacement procedure called TAVI. It will compare giving patients one standard antibiotic versus a combination of two antibiotics right before their procedure. The main goal is to see if the two-drug approach is better at preventing bloodstream infections or death within six months after surgery.
