Antibiotic dilemma: to treat or wait? new trial seeks answer

Summary
This study looks at whether it is safe to wait for lab results before giving antibiotics to patients on breathing machines who may have pneumonia. About 686 adults will be randomly assigned to get antibiotics immediately or only after the infection is confirmed. The goal is to see if waiting reduces unnecessary antibiotic use without increasing deaths or time on the ventilator.
