First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving trauma patients a short course of antibiotics soon after injury can prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), a common and serious lung infection. Over 2,100 adults on breathing machines were included. The goal was to see if early antibiotics reduce early VAP cases without harming bacterial balance.
