New rehab method challenges old advice for teen ankle sprains
NCT ID NCT07287020
Summary
This study compared two different early treatment approaches for teenagers with their first ankle sprain. Seventy-six teens were randomly assigned to follow either the traditional PRICE method (rest, ice, compression) or a newer approach called PEACE and LOVE (which focuses on gentle movement and avoiding anti-inflammatory drugs). Researchers measured ankle strength and balance over 12-15 weeks to see which method led to better recovery.
