X-rays may miss ankle bone misalignment after surgery, CT scans reveal

NCT ID NCT07338149

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at 86 adults who had ankle fracture surgery with screws to stabilize the joint. Even when their post-surgery X-rays looked good, a CT scan sometimes found that the bones were not perfectly aligned. The researchers then checked if this hidden misalignment affected how well the ankle worked one year later.
