First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tested a non-invasive device called ANI that measures heart rate patterns to assess comfort in 20 non-communicating patients receiving end-of-life palliative care. The goal was to see if the ANI could reliably detect pain or stress during routine care, compared to a standard nurse observation scale. The approach aims to improve comfort assessment for patients who cannot speak or communicate.
