Faster wake-up? new drug tested for kids' surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT05256901

Summary

This study compared two drugs used to reverse muscle paralysis after anesthesia in children having appendix surgery. Researchers wanted to see if one drug (sugammadex) helped children wake up faster, regain bowel function sooner, and leave the hospital quicker than the standard drug (neostigmine). The trial involved 22 children aged 2-17 having laparoscopic appendectomy at a single hospital.
