NCT ID NCT06585423
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested four new types of tonometer tips that can measure eye pressure without numbing drops. 49 adults getting routine eye exams tried the new tips and rated them for comfort. The goal is to find the best design for a home-use device that makes glaucoma monitoring easier and more pleasant.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
prototype tonometer tips (medical grade silicone or bandage contact lens covered tips)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more comfortable way to measure eye pressure without numbing drops, making home monitoring easier for glaucoma patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 49 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The new tips might still be uncomfortable or not work as well as the standard method.
