Heart surgery anesthesia test aims to protect the brain

Summary

This study aims to find out which of two common anesthesia drug combinations is better at maintaining healthy blood flow to the brain during heart bypass surgery. It will involve 40 patients with coronary artery disease and a weakened heart pump. Researchers will use a special forehead sensor to monitor brain oxygen levels and compare the effects of ketamine with fentanyl versus ketamine with lidocaine.
