Does anesthesia flow affect eye pressure? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT04407715
First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looked at 80 adults having open gynecologic surgery to see if the amount of anesthesia gas used changes the size of the optic nerve sheath, which is linked to pressure inside the head. Researchers measured the nerve with ultrasound before, during, and after surgery under low or high gas flow. The goal was to gather knowledge about how anesthesia affects the eye, not to treat any disease.
