First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study examined 236 adults in the surgical intensive care unit who needed a breathing machine for more than 4 days. Researchers wanted to see if the length of time a patient had anemia (low red blood cells) was related to how long they needed the breathing machine. The goal was to better understand how anemia affects recovery in critically ill patients.
