First seen Dec 04, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a gamma-irradiated amniotic membrane graft to standard surgical repair (posterior colporrhaphy) helps women with a posterior vaginal wall prolapse (rectocele). Twenty-five women aged 30-60 underwent the modified surgery. The approach aimed to improve prolapse severity and symptoms, and also measured sexual satisfaction. The study was completed and provides early evidence on this graft's safety and effectiveness.
