Could a placental graft save nipples after mastectomy?

NCT ID NCT06073808

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether placing a thin, donated tissue membrane (amnion) under the nipple during mastectomy can prevent nipple death and improve healing. About 30 people having nipple-sparing mastectomy for gender affirmation or breast cancer prevention will take part. The membrane is already used for wound healing, and researchers hope it will reduce complications and keep nipples healthy.
