Scientists search for nutritional key to help ICU patients rebuild

NCT ID NCT02865408

Summary

This study is testing whether giving extra amino acids (protein building blocks) through an IV helps critically ill patients in the ICU use nutrition better to build muscle and recover. Researchers will measure protein balance and look for blood markers that show if the treatment is working. The goal is to find reliable signs of nutritional success to guide future care for very sick patients.
