Scientists track night vision to predict eye disease progression

NCT ID NCT01352975

Summary

This 5-year study aims to understand if measuring how quickly eyes adjust to darkness can help identify and monitor early to intermediate stages of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Researchers will follow about 240 participants, some with varying stages of AMD and some without, tracking their night vision and eye health over time. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to better tools for predicting when AMD might worsen, not to test a new treatment.
