Could a common drug clear long COVID brain fog?
NCT ID NCT06055244
Summary
This study tested whether amantadine, an existing medication, could help improve thinking problems like memory loss and poor concentration (often called 'brain fog') in people with Long COVID. For four months, 64 participants were randomly assigned to receive either amantadine or a placebo pill. Researchers measured changes in cognitive test scores and daily symptoms to see if the drug was helpful and safe.
