Breathe easy, climb higher: new study tests simple tricks to boost altitude endurance
NCT ID NCT07216755
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looks at whether strengthening your breathing muscles and taking a nitrate supplement (like the stuff in beets) can help healthy adults exercise longer in conditions that mimic high altitude. 80 recreationally active people aged 18-40 will do cycling tests before and after a 4-6 week program. The goal is to see if these simple, non-drug methods can improve performance and reduce strain when oxygen is low.
