Scientists test if thin mountain air worsens anxiety and depression

NCT ID NCT05323864

Summary

This study aims to understand how low oxygen levels at high altitudes affect mood and stress in people with anxiety and depression. Researchers will compare 68 participants—some with these mental health conditions and some without—by having them spend time in a special chamber that simulates the air at 12,500 feet. The goal is to gather data to help create future safety guidelines for people with mental health conditions who travel to high places.
