Summary

This study is testing whether a drug called istradefylline, when combined with short periods of breathing low-oxygen air, can help people with ALS breathe more deeply. It involves 40 participants, including people with ALS and healthy adults, across four separate study visits. The goal is to see if this combination is safe and can temporarily improve breathing function.
