Doctors use ultrasound to see if breathing machines help ALS Patients' muscles

NCT ID NCT07170865

Summary

This small, early-stage study aims to understand how a breathing support machine (non-invasive ventilation) affects the main breathing muscle (the diaphragm) in people with ALS. Researchers will use an ultrasound machine to take pictures of the diaphragm while patients breathe on their own and while using the breathing machine. The goal is to see if ultrasound can detect helpful changes in how the diaphragm moves when the machine is used.
