Ketone drink tested in ALS: hope for slowing the disease?

NCT ID NCT04820478

First seen May 07, 2026 ยท Last updated May 07, 2026

Summary

This study tested a daily ketone drink in 81 people with ALS to see if it could slow the disease. The idea is that ketones provide extra energy to cells, which may help counter the energy deficit seen in ALS. Researchers measured changes in a blood marker called neurofilament light chain and tracked survival and function over six months.
