Stent before surgery slashes leak risk in colon patients?

Summary
This study tests whether placing a small mesh tube (stent) in a narrowed artery that supplies blood to the gut, done before planned colon surgery, can prevent a serious complication called anastomotic leakage (a leak where the colon is reconnected). The trial will enroll 360 adults aged 40 and older who have a significant blockage in that artery and are scheduled for colon surgery. Half will get the stent before surgery, and half will not; both groups will take blood-thinning medication.
