Summary
This study tested whether the antioxidant alpha lipoic acid could prevent heart damage caused by the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin in 80 women with breast cancer. Participants received either alpha lipoic acid or a placebo alongside their first round of chemotherapy. The goal was to see if the supplement helped maintain heart function and reduce markers of heart strain.
