Steroids or not? new study aims to simplify allergy treatment for children

NCT ID NCT07341776

First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving steroids along with antihistamines helps children recover faster from food allergy reactions. About 160 children with food allergies will take part during a scheduled food challenge at the clinic. If an allergic reaction happens, they will receive either antihistamines alone or antihistamines plus steroids, chosen at random. The goal is to see if the extra medication makes a difference, which could lead to simpler and more effective emergency care.
