Summary
This study tested whether a daily capsule called ALK-001 could slow the progression of geographic atrophy, a severe form of age-related macular degeneration that causes permanent vision loss. About 300 people with this condition were randomly assigned to receive either the study drug or a placebo pill for comparison. The main goal was to see if ALK-001 could reduce the rate at which the damaging eye lesions grow.
