Could algae powder slow blindness in teens?
NCT ID NCT02018692
Summary
This study is testing whether a powder made from a specific algae can help improve or preserve vision in teenagers with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye disease that leads to progressive vision loss. Researchers will give participants either the algae powder or a placebo for 24 weeks, then switch, to see if the treatment improves how the retina responds to light. The goal is to see if this natural supplement can help control the disease and slow down vision deterioration.
