First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether starting alcohol use disorder treatment during a hospital stay helps people stay engaged in care and drink less after leaving. About 450 adults hospitalized at Yale New Haven Hospital who have moderate to severe alcohol use disorder will be randomly assigned to one of three approaches: a brief counseling session with a follow-up phone call, the same session plus medication for alcohol use, or the session plus medication plus a computer-based therapy program. The main goal is to see how many people are still in treatment 34 days after discharge.
