First seen Jul 29, 2026 · Last updated Jul 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study explores whether adding a urine biomarker test to standard alcohol screening can improve detection and treatment of harmful drinking among HIV-affected adolescents and young adults in Lusaka, Zambia. Sixty participants aged 16–24 will receive a brief counseling session and, if needed, a referral to more intensive therapy. Researchers will track how many complete each step and interview participants and staff to assess the program's feasibility and acceptability.
