Scientists trigger inflammation to unlock alcohol craving mystery
NCT ID NCT07452146
Summary
This study aims to understand how inflammation in the body affects mood and alcohol cravings in people with alcohol use disorder (AUD). Researchers will give 64 participants (half with AUD, half without) a single, low-dose IV infusion that triggers a temporary inflammatory response or a placebo saline solution. They will then measure changes in mood, craving levels, and inflammatory markers over several hours and track alcohol use for a week to see if the inflammation has lasting effects.
