Ultrasound reveals hidden throat swelling risk during routine gallbladder surgery

NCT ID NCT07021482

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at whether the air pressure used in the belly during laparoscopic gallbladder surgery can cause swelling in the throat. 66 adults were randomly assigned to either low or standard pressure. Doctors used ultrasound to measure throat tissue thickness before and after surgery to see if higher pressure leads to more swelling, which could affect breathing after the procedure.
