NCT ID NCT07311655

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study will test whether an artificial intelligence (AI) system can diagnose anxiety disorders as accurately as a psychiatrist. One hundred adults with anxiety will be assessed by both the AI and a specialist, and the results will be compared. The goal is to see if the AI is a reliable tool for screening anxiety, which could make diagnosis faster and more accessible.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Artificial intelligence-based diagnostic system

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a faster, more accessible way to diagnose anxiety disorders, potentially reducing wait times for mental health care.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study with only 100 participants, and the AI may not match a psychiatrist's accuracy in real-world settings. The system is also limited to Chinese speakers aged 18-60.
